Classroom games and activities are powerful learning tools when used correctly. Building and maintaining game kits requires time and money. During the course of an hour we will actively go through three games the only require paper and other supplies found in your desk. We will then debrief on how you can use these games in your training program.

Measure Twice, Cut Once  – Important Considerations for designing and storyboarding your eLearning course

This session will focus on introducing basic concepts of eLearning instructional design methodologies, in preparation for the final session around eLearning Development.

eLearning Design Basics

• An overview of the basic flow and design of a standard eLearning course
  
• How to “budget” the design (and therefore development) of your course
  
• The process of designing an eLearning activity from scratch, including design considerations for asynchronous experiences
  
• How to use narration, on-screen text, layers, and interaction to create a cohesive experience
  
• Basic storyboarding techniques (including free storyboard templates for Storyline, Captivate, and Lectora)
  
• Which design considerations need to be thought through and documented in order to make the most of development, create solid learning experiences, and avoid wasted work (free checklist provided)
  

• Creating engagement (storytelling, first-person roles, hosts, scenarios, simple games, cognitive interaction versus simple clicks, creative writing vs. instructional writing, etc.)
  
• The process of converting an instructor-led activity into an eLearning format, with a few examples
